*Unless I see you blatantly break a requirement in person, we’ll operate via the honor system. If you decide to break the fast, just don’t get on the Thursday evening Zoom Call.


Eating Requirements:

— No Alcohol

-1st 3 days WATER ONLY (Aug. 2nd @ 7pm-Aug. 5th @ 7pm)
No coffee. No bone broth. Nothing. And no exceptions. So, no need to ask. If you can’t or aren’t willing, The Pastor’s Fast isn’t for you this time around.

-No Bread (Bread, flour tortillas, rice, noodles, unleavened, etc… but veggie alternatives are welcomed!)

-After 1st 3 days, caffeine is allowed, but BLACK COFFEE ONLY (no energy drinks, pre-workout, sweeteners, creamer)

-No desserts/sweets — sweet-ish things you CAN have: protein shakes (but not bars), raw fruit (no canned or pre-packed fruit with syrup), greek yogurt, sugar free jelly



Prayer Requirements:

-30 minutes per day bare minimum (can be broken up in 10-15 minute increments)

-Driving time does NOT count

-Walking IS allowed (not running), EXCEPT on Mondays.



Prayer Schedule:

Mon. — Silent & Still (no talking, no moving — sit, breathe, reflect, listen

Tues. — The Lord’s Prayer Template (I’ve preached on this twice)

Wed. — Prayer Walk/Run/Swing/Bike & have fun

Thurs. — Use a Psalm as the template for your prayer time

Fri. — Pray in tongues (if applicable) AND pray for the needs of friends and family

Sat. — Pray For Your Church (salvations, leadership, finances, growth, spiritual health, your team/group, etc..)

Sun. — Gratitude (spend 30 minutes of your day just thanking God for all the blessings, answered prayers, and faithfulness) — church does NOT count toward this



Reading Requirements:

-30 Minutes of Bible Reading per day

-Drive time does NOT count (we’re reading this time, not listening)



Church Related Requirements:

-Sit in the front section on Sunday mornings (Nothing behind the walkway. Arrived late? Sit on the floor. But you MUST be in the front section. No exceptions. Make it happen.)

-Tithe & Give an offering EVERY SINGLE WEEK (and those are 2 different things).

-Take notes during every sermon

-Attend the Back To School Bash, AT LEAST two of the Saturday morning prayer sessions and AT LEAST two of the Sunday mornings during the fast. Kids get sick and life happens, so you get to miss once each.



Other:

-6:30am wake up time (or earlier) EVERY MORNING — if you work 3rd shift, we can figure something else out for you.

-30 minute, 7pm Zoom call every Thursday (7th, 14th, 21st) & if work is a conflict, let me know and we’ll get on a 5 minute call some other time during the week.

-No scrolling on ANY form of social media — if you post for your business or need to honor a spouse/child for an anniversary or birthday, go for it, but ZERO TIME SPENT SCROLLING on Pinterest, IG, Tiktok, FB, etc & this includes ZERO liking, sharing, commenting, replying, etc

-No secular TV shows/movies (enjoy the Prince of Egypt and The Chosen and The Passion all you want, but Friends, The Office, and everything else goes)

-No secular books (only Contemporary Christian or theology books during this. Love stories and Harry Potter can wait.)

-No secular music (For those interested in Christian rap, start with everything from “nobigdyl.” & “indietribe”)

-No podcasts that aren’t Christian/theology themed (save the leadership or celebrity stuff for any other time — try out “The Bible Project”)



No modifications are available. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it. If you break the fast, you’re out of the zoom calls. Let’s beat our bodies into submission and invest into the life and health of our minds, souls & spirits for a change.
