Day Seven

Prayer Focus: Lost And Found

“Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
Luke 15:1-7 NLT

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
2 Peter 3:9 NLT

“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.”
‭1 John 5:14 NLT

Overflow Chuuurch! We’ve already heard so many testimonies from people who’ve ALREADY had answered prayers & breakthroughs while fasting, AND IT’S ONLY WEEK ONE! I’d be hard pressed to believe that there’s anyone joining this fast who doesn’t at least have one person in their life that they’re hoping has an encounter with God, gets saved, or even just starts coming back to church. Maybe it’s a sibling, old friend, current friend, spouse, child, or someone else, but most of us have loved ones who need to experience the love of God that’s already transformed our lives.

Today, I wanted to drop in and encourage you that Jesus knows and sees that person too. Jesus wants that person to be saved as well. Even more than you do. As you just read in Luke 15, Jesus spent TONS of time eating and hanging out with people who might consider themselves “far from God” simply because He loved them so much. He then goes on to say that when even one person like this repents of their sins and gets saved, all of Heaven throws a party to celebrate!

Later on in the New Testament, we find out that Peter is fully aware of how much God wants everyone to be saved too… “He [God] does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” Talk about an exciting verse! Couple that with 1 John 5:14 and I’m ready to go! So be encouraged… Jesus wants that lost or struggling person you’re thinking of right now to be found and to make a Fresh Start with God!

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for saving me. Thank you for finding me when I was lost. Thank you for not rejecting me because of my poor choices. I cannot imagine living without you. Help me to see people like you see them. Help me to love people like you love them. I pray for my friends and family who don’t know you. Show yourself to them. Open their eyes. Wreck them in the best way possible! I believe that you will and want to do this! Amen!

DON’T STOP THERE! When you pray today, take a good amount of time and pray for those people in your life who need a Fresh Start with God for the first time or maybe for the first time in a long time. Ask God to show up in their lives. Pray for them like you would want someone to pray for you. Pray for them like you’re the only person praying for them. Because the truth is, you might be. Afterward, you might ask them out to eat, send them an encouraging text, or give them a call and catch up! God may just use your prayers and actions to change someone’s life forever.

Love,
Pastor Alex
